As much as I love the music & talent of the Gipsy Kings, I've got to say their concert at The Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara, CA on 8/19/01 was awful. Whoever their sound engineer was for the performance should be fired. The voices were so "wet" they might just as well have made it an instrumental concert. The singing was hardly audible and completely reverbed so far back it was impossible to hear what they were singing. The guitars were so far up that all the beautiful nuances in their music went unnoticed. I have attended many concerts where, even though the volume may be loud, the balance is perfect. I will continue to listen to the Gipsy Kings...but only through their recorded material...
