First set was a little flat but it was still wonderful to see them again.Second set was far better, especially after a gorgeous version of "Montana" that made me cry! (why doesn't that guy sing more songs?). Far more passion in their playing after that. Sadly, only one encore. It was very much worth the trip down from Victoria, BC. to see them. Chateau Ste. Michelle is the perfect venue to see these guys. Hope they come back next year.

My family and I saw them this weekend here at the Ste. Michelle Winery. A great outdoor venue for a group like that. Or any group for that matter. We all really enjoyed the show. My kids are also fans (five and nine).

It was a fantastic concert! The Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery, in Woodinville, Washington, was a perfect setting for the concert. The stage was set amid the acres of grapevines and elegant winery buildings. It was a lovely late-summer evening. The crowd waited in anticipation for the appearance of the Gipsy Kings. When the band arrived on stage, the crowd acknowledged their presence with applause and shouting. People started dancing and the "party" started. As the sun set, the dancing of the crowd grew and people got up from their blankets, that were spread on the green, grassy hillside, and gravitated to the area around the stage. So many people were standing because the music was just wonderful and there was so much energy in the air that you couldn't sit still! During the intermission, the band actually came out and waved/acknowledged the crowd. One didn't want the concert and music to end. Even though Nicholas was not singing, the songs were sung wonderfully and Canut's voice on Montana almost brought tears to the eye.

Chateau Ste. Michelle did a wonderful job. They provided free van transportation to the concert from a location a mile or so down the road. So there were a number of vans, full of Gipsy Kings fans, from all over the country (and world), riding together to the concert. It was such a friendly, happy crowd. Smiles were everywhere! The winery also offered food and bottles of their delicious wine for purchase.

It was truly a night to be remembered for young and old in attendance. Thank you, Gipsy Kings, for putting on a wonderful show. Please tour the USA in 2002!
